Position Overview
Ardent Health Services is seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is a great opportunity for a nurse with strong PCU/Stepdown experience who is comfortable caring for higher-acuity adult and geriatric patients.
First-time travelers are welcome! Candidates must have at least 1 year of recent Stepdown/PCU experience and have required certifications active at the time of submission.
Unit Details
- Unit Type: Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC)
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Beds: 25
- Daily Census: Approximately 25 patients
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 (Days/Nights/Weekends)
- Charting System: Epic
- Floating: Required (very seldom)
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (specific coverage can be discussed)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (appropriate state requirements)
- Minimum 1 year of Stepdown/PCU experience
- Epic charting experience required
- Must have certifications in hand at submission:
Travel experience is NOT required – first-time travelers accepted.
Preferred Experience
- Previous charge nurse experience
- Community hospital experience
- Neuro Stepdown experience
- Cardiac telemetry experience
- Telemetry monitoring experience
Clinical Experience & Skills Preferred
Candidates should (not absolutley required but is a plus if they) have experience with:
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Post-MI care
- A-Fib with RVR
- CHF management
- Respiratory failure/COPD patients
- Sepsis management
- Non-DKA patients
- ETOH withdrawal management
- BiPAP/CPAP
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Oxygen administration
- Central line and PICC management
- IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Blood product administration
- Wound care/wound vac
- Feeding tube management
- Heparin protocols
- Cardiac drips (management and titration experience preferred)
- Post-cardiac cath care
- TR band management
- Cardioversion monitoring
- TEE procedures
- Groin site management
Schedule & Contract Details
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts
- Hours: 36 hours/week
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Block Scheduling: Not available
- Orientation: 12 hours
